A BRILLIANT VOICE AND A FRESH, HONEST QUALITY TO THE SONGS AND PERFORMANCES MADE HARRI LARKIN STAND OUT FOR ME ------- JOHN KENNEDY (RADIO X)
"Harri Larkin" is a DIY Alternative band based in Sheffield UK.
The five piece is fronted by Cornish Songwriter Harri Tape and her girlfriend Abi Middleton alongside drummer Danton Laromani, bassist Oscar South & guitarist Tom Whylie.
The Band were crowned as the winners of the 2023 Tramlines Apply to play competition by John Kennedy, landing themselves a headline slot on Tramlines ‘Library stage', slots at Truck & Victorious festivals and A London showcase with 'This Feeling' who subsequently chose the band as one of their ‘Big in 2024’ picks.
Other notable shows of 2023 were appearances at 110 above's 'OTHR' festival, Long Division, Outcider Festival, a private event with ska legends Maddness and a slot at Sheffield's Rock n Roll Circus where the band played alongside Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds and Happy Mondays after being put forward for the slot by their local BBC introducing show.
Harri Larkin's first release of 2023 ‘Dopamine’ gained the band their first national radio plays on BBC6music and Radio X. Their second release of the year ‘Get the Girl away’ went on to do the same and was also featured on John Kennedys Daily Xposure show.
'Dopamine Live from Tramlines' was included in the ‘Best of 2023’ show on BBC introducing Sheffield and Leeds.
In July 2022 Harri Larkin opened Tramlines Festival Main Stage. This tremendous feat was following the broadcast of their entire 11 track Debut album 'Beach City' on BBC introducing Sheffield. Later that year the band were invited to record a session of 'Bonfire Toffee' for BBC introducing LIVE. The track came in at #4 in BBC Introducing Sheffield's ‘Top 50 tracks of the year’.
Although loosely labeled an 'Alternative' band, Harri Larkin blends elements of Funk, Indie, Jazz, Ska, Pop & Punk into their music, offering a cocktail of upbeat summery sounds, soaring harmonies, huge grooves and catchy choruses.
